Tom Marchese 'is going to be a big player'

2010-05-06 14:28:35

Tom Marchese is one poker professional to look out for, it has been claimed.

The American decided to quit college and become a card sharp when he was 20 years old and Don Peters, writing in his Poker News blog, noted that it has turned out to be a good decision.

Initially, the 22-year-old made his money and name in online poker going by the moniker kingsofcards.

His first live cash was in the $3,300 Championship Event at the Borgata Winter Open in Atlantic City, a result that saw him earn $190,027.

Marchese followed that up by claiming first place in the North American Poker Tour Venetian main event, which was worth $827,648.

Peters noted: "Marchese will be [a] player to keep an eye out for at the World Series this summer and could make a big splash."

Another person who has received praise for his talent is Viktor Blom, with seasoned pro Tony G remarking that he will succeed.
