Jimmy Nickens lands WSOPC gold ring

2010-05-12 16:37:51

A 35-year-old from Texas has emerged victorious in the latest leg of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit, which is being held in Harrah's St Louis.

Jimmy Nickens has previously cashed at some big poker tournaments before, including the WSOP main event and the Winter Bayou Poker Challenge main event.

But this was his first gold ring - in what is the last stop for the tour this year - and he also lifted $18,197 for his troubles.

From the beginning of the last day it appeared as though it would be a two-horse race, with Nickens and Kevin Hercules holding close to a two-to-one chip lead over the rest of the field.

But Hercules could only manage third place and Nickens was able to best Bobby Binsky to take the top prize.

Steven Hustoft also claimed himself a first gold ring by outlasting everyone else in the mixed event.
