Richard Toth takes heads up crown

2010-05-14 16:41:09

Richard Toth has triumphed in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit New Orleans heads up no limit hold'em event.

The Hungarian - widely regarded as one of the top European players - scooped $9,114 for his efforts, which saw a field of 116 compete.

"I am thrilled to come here and win," Toth remarked. "I love it here in New Orleans. It is one of my favorite places. Great food and the poker is good here to."

He has come close to winning the WSOP before and has also outlasted poker players in a number of competitions in Europe.

Initially, the tournament was only meant to involve 64 individuals, but because of the interest in it, the schedule had to be revised.

Toth faced off against Dan Walsh in the final and he won the encounter 2-1.

Another player who has lifted a title recently is Jimmy Nickens, with the 35-year-old landing a gold ring in the process.
