WPT Spain won by Ali Tekintamgac

2010-05-24 13:46:32

Ali Tekintamgac has emerged as the winner of the World Poker Tour (WPT) event in Spain.

The German took home €315,000 ($390,000) for his troubles, as well as a seat at the WPT Championship 2011.

He defeated local favourite Roberto Santiago in heads up play, after having entered the final table with the most chips.

Holding a massive stack advantage over Santiago - who pocketed €160,000 for second place - it did not take Tekintamgac long to turn this lead into a result.

Santiago pushed all-in with nine-eight against Tekintamgac's queen-five and when the board came up king-ace-five-queen-two, the card sharp's two pair was enough for the cheque.

According to an interview with PartyPoker, Tekintamgac revealed that he was playing in only his second major live poker tournament.

Someone who will be looking to impress at the World Series of Poker is the highly-fancied Annette Obrestad, who will be making her debut at the age of 21.
