Ivey 'dumped out of tournament' in own room

2010-05-26 12:34:56

Phil Ivey has failed to win the inaugural tournament held in the room named in his honour.

The Ivey Room - in the Aria Casino in Las Vegas - witnessed a $1 million poker tournament to kick things off in style.

It also carried with it a couple of subplots, as whoever knocked out the Tiger Woods of Poker earned themselves $100,000 on the spot, while the winner of the event got to play Ivey heads up for $250,000.

Chino Rheem, who has made the final table at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event before, was the brave man who took Ivey on and beat him.

But it was Larry Linton who triumphed overall and therefore has a shot at doubling his jackpot in heads up.

But Ivey - who has seven WSOP bracelets to his name - showed his class to win that encounter.

"I think my room will bring the same kind of magic to the game that the hotel itself has to the Strip," he said.
