Jeff Lisandro best WSOP player post-boom?

2010-05-26 17:10:21

Jeff Lisandro has put in the most impressive performances in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) since the sport took off.

Writing in Card Player, Stephen Murphy noted the Australian rightfully has a claim with his four bracelets since 2004, which was when Chris Moneymaker shocked the poker world by taking down the main event.

He added that before his victory in 2007, Lisandro was one of the contenders for the title of best player to have never won a bracelet.

Murphy said: "Last year, he became the first and only player since the poker boom to win three WSOP bracelets in a single [tournament]."

The amended list places Phil Ivey, Allen Cunningham and Barry Greenstein in second place.

And Murphy remarked that ten per cent of bracelets given out in the past six years have won their only cash.

Peter Eastgate, the 2008 main event winner, recently revealed the secret to his success at the competition is to share with his friends rather than stay in a hotel on his own.
