WSOP setup welcomed by professionals

2010-06-01 12:19:14

Poker professionals have been praising the new setup for this year's World Series of Poker (WSOP).

Greater space has been afforded to the event at the Rio in Las Vegas, with 378 tables spread over 100,000 sq ft of floor space.

And 2003 main event champion Chris Moneymaker noted that the WSOP is now much more spacious, with people in the past having had trouble moving around at times.

"Harrah's has done a fantastic job of spreading things out and giving the players plenty of room to play and move around," he said of the event sponsor. "It's really incredible to see how big the WSOP has become."

Former tournament director Jack McClelland, meanwhile, stated he is proud to have been involved in the past as he suggested the current setup is close to being perfect.

Around 60,000 people are expected to compete in this year's WSOP, with organizers noting each one represents 1,700 of the 100 million poker players around the world.
