Praz Bansi gets England's first WSOP 2010 bracelet

2010-06-03 12:46:19

England has its first World Series of Poker bracelet winner of the 2010 edition of competition.

Praz Bansi, a 32-year-old from London, adds to his previous victory in the poker tournament in 2006.

He scooped $515,501 after besting a field of over 2,000 players, which included Dewey Tomko - who was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame last year.

It builds on his recent good form in WSOP-related tournaments, as he came third in the European main event in 2009.

The runner-up was Vincent Jacques, a result that was impressive considering it was the Quebec man's first time at the WSOP.

Once the table had become four-handed, Bansi - who only took up the sport in 2005 - played aggressively in order to seize the chip lead.

He came "mind-numbingly" close to winning the contest on two occasions when Jacques managed to find last-minute outs, before he finally prevailed.
