Daniel Negreanu 'looking for upsurge in WSOP form'

2010-06-04 10:59:39

Daniel Negreanu will be hoping to improve on his current form in the World Series of Poker (WSOP).

Kid Poker, writing in his Full Contact Poker blog, noted that he has played in six competitions so far, but has yet to cash in one.

Next up for the card sharp is the $10,000 7 Card Stud Championship, a poker tournament he finished tenth in last year.

While he has never considered himself "a great stud player", Negreanu thinks he has enough ability at the format to do well.

"In my early 20's, I took it as a personal goal to learn stud," he remarked.

The Canadian said the most influence he has drawn from anyone when it comes to taking part in these types of contests is the Tiger Woods of Poker, Phil Ivey.

Negreanu stated Ivey "is the most aggressive stud player" he has ever come up against.

The winner of the 2004 WSOP Player of the Year award continued he is not worried by his lack of success so far, as the event is a "long grind".
