Juha Helppi
Juha Helppi was born in Finland in 1977. He has been involved in the poker industry from a young age, beginning as a casino dealer. Outside of the casino, he became a world-class paintball player, becoming the captain of the team that won the Finnish National Championship. His nerves of steel and ice-cool demeanour on the battlefield have served him well in his rise to becoming one of the greatest Poker players today.
His rise to Poker fame began in Helsinki, where he finished 3rd in he Helsinki Freezeout 2001. By October 2002 he won the WPT main event in Aruba, becoming the first amateur player to win a major televised tournament at just 25 years old. Juha’s mathematical astuteness and psychological perception has been an inspiration to a new generation of young players, eager to live the dream of professional poker life.
Playing with the InterPoker team, Juha’s most recent remarkable achievement was at the WPT in Paris in July ‘05, where he scooped up $305,160 in a second place finish after a nail-biting head-to-head.
