With day 5 of the grueling 8 day stage of the WSOP Main Event at its close, the field has been cut dramatically from 575 to 205, with our man Juha Helppi still going strong. He’s currently sitting in 156 position with 555,000 in chips. Below is a brief update from the ‘IceMan’ himself.
I had a really tough day today. My table draw seemed good, but the short stacks busted out quickly from my left and suddenly I had only big stacks on my left and small stacks on my right. Not a good thing. I was also totally card dead the whole day.
I did get AKs once. I just called a raise from UTG and only us two saw the flop.
Flop came A52 with two hearts and I called a half pot size bet. Turn K no heart he and I called a pot size bet. River 8 no heart and he checked. I bet 120k which was about 60% of the pot. I had 500k behind. I was hoping for a call, but my opponent went allin! I thought for minutes and finally they called a floorman and he gave me a minute to act. I folded and shoved my hand. My opponent shoved
88 so he rivered a 2 outer. I have 555k now which is a bit more than half of the average, so I have some work to do tomorrow!’’
Fingers crossed for Juha as we approach day six.
